What an assistant earns
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median pay for administrative assistants at $47,460 a year in May 2024, or $22.82 an hour. Executive assistants earned a median $74,260.
At the lower rate, five hours of help a week comes to about $494 a month. Freelancers and agencies set their own prices, often higher.
What you’d actually hand over
Most people who want an assistant want the small jobs gone. Cancel the gym. Chase the refund. Book the dentist. Find a birthday present before the weekend.
None of those takes long, but each one hangs around for weeks. That’s why five hours a week feels like a lot of relief.
When a person is worth it
Some jobs need a human. Picking up dry cleaning, waiting in for a delivery and anything that has to happen in person all fall to a person.
A Nym also can’t place phone calls for you yet. If most of your list is calls or errands across town, a part-time assistant earns their rate.
What $20 a month gets you
A Nym does the jobs that can happen online. It researches, emails from its own address, fills in forms in its own browser and buys what you approve.
Nym Plus is $20 a month, and Free costs nothing to try. Many people end up with both: a Nym for the online chores and a person for the occasional errand.
